Support Center on Fort Sam Houston celebrated its ninth anniversary. The WFSC began its existence back in December 2003 as a single room in the Powless Hall Guest Center. Today, it
is a 12,500-square-foot facility that sits on several acres of land, laced with gardens, fountains, running tracks, playgrounds, specialty work out
stations and various amenities for wounded warriors and their families.

     <description><![CDATA[<div style="text-align: left; line-height: normal"><span style="font-size: 12pt">The unthinkable happened: a (simulated) 3,000 lb. radiological dispersal devise exploded at a train station in a major Midwestern city. Within hours, reports indicated two additional radiological devises, as well as a possible nuclear device, also detonated within the city.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 12pt">Within minutes of the incident, the Federal Emergency Management Agency began the process of responding to the crisis; and soon after, an Army North defense coordinating element kicked into high gear as it prepared to help coordinate for Department of Defense assistance.</span></div>]]></description>

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Runners from Fort Sam Houston and the surrounding community joined Lt. Gen. William Caldwell IV, commanding general, U.S. Army North, and senior commander, Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis, in a leisurely 2.3-mile run from historic Fort Sam Houston to the Alamo, where a throng of spectators and the giant cake awaited them.</div>]]></description>

     <description><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: left"><span style="font-size: 12pt">Five devastating earthquakes in western Washington served as the scenario for the Region X Defense Coordinating Element to train for their mission of bringing federal military helicopters, medical units, engineers and other life-saving capabilities to a catastrophic disaster response. <span style="font-size: 12pt">The Evergreen Quake exercise was designed by Washington State, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and British Columbia&rsquo;s Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre, to test the plans of all levels of government, private sector, volunteers, and citizens in response to a wide-area, large-scale earthquake.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 12pt">The Defense Coordinating Element deployed from Bothell, Wash., to train June 4 - 6 with their FEMA and Washington State counterparts at Camp Murray, Wash.&nbsp;They were augmented by a handful of functional experts from their higher headquarters, U.S. Army North, San Antonio, Texas.</span></span></p>]]></description>

     <description><![CDATA[<div style="text-align: left"><font face="Arial">Military and civilian community members joined together&nbsp;April 28 and enjoyed the&nbsp;Fiesta Flambeau Parade festivities in San Antonio. The Flambeau Parade is known as &ldquo;America&rsquo;s Largest Illuminated Parade.&rdquo; The theme for the parade was Saturday Night at the Movies, and tens of thousands of military and civilian community members gathered to enjoy the numerous floats, bands and assorted entertainment. Fort Sam Houston&rsquo;s Color Guard led the way to kick off the event. Also participating were the 323rd Army Band &ldquo;Fort Sam&rsquo;s Own&rdquo; and Fort Sam Houston&rsquo;s military ambassadors</font></div>
