U.S. Army North recognizes U.S. Army Birthday with virtual celebration

By Lauren Padden U.S. Army North

The U.S. Army’s birthday, on June 14, is an opportunity to honor our longstanding legacy of service, our values, and our fellow Soldiers and Army Civilians, including those service members who made the ultimate sacrifice. This year, the Army Birthday falls during a challenging time in American history. While COVID-19 may have upended our daily lives, we wish to maintain the Army’s traditions while practicing social distancing and keeping everyone safe. Therefore, U.S. Army North is hosting a virtual Army Birthday celebration ceremony at 10 a.m. on June 12.

The ceremony, streaming live via Facebook, will include remarks from U.S. Army North Commander, Lt. Gen. Laura Richardson, a traditional cake cutting with U.S. Army North’s youngest Soldier and oldest Department of the Army Civilian, and conclude with the playing of the Army Song by Fort Sam’s Own, the 323rd Army Band.
